PAC Rats Meeting
Thursday, June 5, 2003

Meeting Called to dis order by Paul Braun at 7:05 pm CDT.

In attendance: Lyn Andre, Dawn & Scott Begin, Paul Braun, Tina Farmer, Billy Graham, Angela Martin, Jorge Ruiz, Ellie Shunko, Barry, Megan, Jennifer & Bethany Zurawicz.

1. Reading of the minutes from last meeting was waived because no one thought about it.

2. Old Business
A. Shakespeare Outing wrap-up: Thanks to everyone who attended Short Shakespeare performed at Navy Pier (Romeo and Juliet) on Saturday May 10 at 11am. The seats were excellent (Dress circle, center of house) and the play was well staged.

B. Memorial Day Parade wrap-up: Thanks to everyone who participated in the South Holland Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 26. The parade started at Thornwood at 11am exactly (on time, what a concept!), and we were done by 12pm. The day was perfect for a parade, but just a little cool for the pool afterwards. Nearly 1800 fliers were handed out, listing upcoming PAC Rats meeting dates. Lunch was burned grilled by Billy Graham.

C. Theatre Renovations: There is no news on the renovations other than they are on "hold" until the Governor decides to let the college have the cash. We will get 4-6 weeks notice (at best) when (or if!) the renovations will begin. Naturally, this puts quite a few spanners into the fall schedule for the PAC.

3. New Business
A. Summer Concert Series on the Gazebo: George Dammer (SSC President) would like the PAC Rats to sell concessions for the the Summer Concert Series (similar to what was done last year) on Wednesdays June 4, 11, 18 & 25, as well as Wednesdays, July 9, 16, 23 & 30. All shows start at 7pm. Set up should be ready by 6:30pm.

B. PAC Rats Clothing: You can purchase short or long-sleeved T-shirts with the PAC Rats logo on front and your name (or other saying) on back. Short-sleeved T-shirts are available in black or silver blue (darker than sky blue, lighter than royal blue), and are $10 each. Long-sleeved T-shirts are available in black only, and are $12 each. For those wanting something more formal, you can purchase polo shirts in black or royal blue (SSC blue), having the PAC Rats logo on the left chest and your name embroidered in script lettering on the right chest. Polo shirts are $15 each. Deadline for orders is the next PAC Rats meeting on Wednesday, July 9. Money will be due by the August PAC Rats meeting on August 7, when we anticipate the shirts will be ready. You can email Paul Braun with your clothing orders at pabpacrat1@sbcglobal.net.

C. Taste of Chicago Outing / Boat Tour Of The Chicago River Outing: Some interest has been shown in attending the Taste of Chicago, which runs from June 27ˇ©July 6. The date selected for this outing is Sunday, June 29. Ellie has suggested that the PAC Rats take a boat tour of the Chicago River, where the Chicago Architecture Foundation gives a one-hour tour of the sites of downtown Chicago. This boat tour would be free to all PAC Rats who have helped out this past year. (Ellie says she will even attend with one of her sisters!) 20 tickets have been purchased for this tour, which will take place on June 29 at 12pm. (We will need to be at the loading area on the southeast corner of Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive [lower level] by 11:45am.) If interested in taking the boat tour, please let Paul know ASAP by contacting him at pabpacrat1@sbcglobal.net. We will eat at the Taste after the boat tour.

D. Renaissance Faire: We will be attending the Bristol Renaissance Faire on Sunday, July 13. Advanced tickets can be purchased at Cub Foods stores. We will leave from Clan Zurawicz at 9am and carpool to the Faire. Dressing in period costume is optional, but highly recommended. (No Klingons, please)

E. Summer Play Outing: The Free Associates is doing their improvisational spoof of The Lord of the Rings, entitled Frodo-A-Go-Go, or The Rings Recycled. The planned date for this outing is Sunday, August 3 at 3pm. Tickets are $20 each. (Dinner at Uncle Julio's would be a possibility after the show.) If interested in attending, please let Paul Braun know by the next PAC Rats meeting. Money would be due the day of the show.

F. Piglet B-Day Party/Anniversary Party: On Saturday, July 19, Clan Zurawicz will be having a party for Megan's 50th birthday, as well as Barry & Megan's 20th wedding anniversary, plus the rest of the Clan Z birthday bunch (Barry, Jen, Beth and Lyn). The party will begin at noon(ish) and last until ??? Please bring appropriate attire for the swimming pool, and RSVP by July 12 so Clan Z can plan for food.

G. Great America Outing: Unfortunately, Panduit (workplace of Diane Kaffka) is not doing a Great America outing this year (i.e., no discounted tickets for PAC Rats to purchase). If anyone is still interested in going this year, please bring your input to the next PAC Rats meeting.

H. Break a leg to Raymond Cleveland and Jim Walters: The boys are "starring" in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at the Illinois Theatre Center in Park Forest. Raymond will be playing Mr. Davis. Jim Walters will attempt THREE roles: The Narrator, Mr. Ovington and (according to Rochelle) some type of announcer. Performance dates are: July 18, 19, 25 and 26 at 8:00 pm and July 20 and 27 at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm. Tickets are $14 for adults. Reserve your tickets by calling the ITC Box office at 708-481 3510.

4. Other Business
A. The next PAC Rats meeting will be on Wednesday, July 9 at 6:30pm in the courtyard by the gazebo. YES! This is a different time than normal for a Rat meeting. There is a Gazebo concert on that date. We're saving the faithfuls from having to come out two days in a row.

B. Clothing orders will be due at this time.

5. Meeting was adjourned at 8:05pm, and cake and soda was served in honor of Barry Zurawicz's birthday.

Minutes taken and typed by Paul Braun and (finally) put up on the web by Ellie.
