War of the Worlds Monument
Grover's Mill, New Jersey is the landing site of the "Martian invasion" from the War of the Worlds radio broadcast of 1938. Follow plucky explorer and PAC Rats Theatre Company advisor Ellie Shunko as she travels to New Jersey to find evidence that an invasion really took place.
We resume our search for the WOTW Monument.

As you round the bushes from the trash can path, you can see the monument emerge from the shubbery. The monument leans back, nestled in between two bushes. It's a bronze relief structure. The monument from about 150 feet away. You can see the Grover's Mill Pond in the background.

When I was searching for pictures of the monument, I wanted closer views of the detail work. From top to bottom... There's Orson Welles, depicted at age 24, standing at the mic during the broadcast. Notice the attention to detail. Orson has his pipe in his right hand.

A family sits in their living room, around the radio, sucked into the drama of the broadcast. Mom and son look frightened. Dad is in his easy chair, startled by the "news" of an invasion from Mars. A closer view of the War of the Worlds Monument. Interestingly enough, there is no mention of the sculptor. Having achieved my goal of searching for evidence of a Martian invasion in Grover's Mill, I leave you to explore more War of the Worlds resources.
