Meanwhile Back At The Couch border=
A zany comedy by JACK SHARKEY
ABOUT THE PLAY: ABOUT THE SHOW: Struggling psychiatrist Victor Karleen takes on a new patient to help with his growing financial problems. The patient, frustrated by love, dreams up a steamy, torrid novel and gives his first manuscript to Victor. Victor's nurse hands the manuscript over to a publisher, believing it is Victor's work. Suddenly Victor has an enormous advance royalty check, a Book of the Month Club selection and a potential Pulitzer prize. Things continue to spiral out of control as Victor is determined to keep his patient crazy until he's dreamed up the final chapter. MEANWHILE BACK AT THE COUCH is directed by Tianna Ruelas.

~ ROLES AVAILABLE ~
FOUR MEN
Victor Karleen (mid 30s): A psychiatrist; a bit overwhelmed by the success his fiance enjoys as an artist and tries to 'keep up'. As the play progresses, is desperately trying to keep a lot of balls in the air: Gaby, his patients, his 'bestseller'.

Roy Terrigan (30s): Also a psychiatrist, he fancies himself something of a ladies' man and is enjoying some success from the sales of his book. Roy gets much enjoyment out of rubbing Victor's nose in his success. Very keen on the right appearances.

Parker Donnelly (40s): A book publisher and a friend of Victor's. Looking for the Next Big Thing in fiction.

Albert Brock (any age from 20 to 50): Victor's newest patient, he is the meek, somewhat downtrodden operator of a boarding house. His active fantasy life, inadvertently becomes Victor's best hope of financial success, forcing Victor to keep Albert from finding fulfillment until the fantasy's plot is resolved.

FOUR WOMEN
Gaby Wingate (30s): Smart, successful, stylish artist; loves Victor, but has expectations of her life with him that Victor is having some trouble meeting. Tries to be understanding, but is not always successful at being so.

Charlotte Hennebon (40s-50s): Victor's wry, not-so-stylish, no-nonsense nurse/secretary. She is more or less coming to terms with the idea that she is not going to find the man of her dreams, and is therefore committed to Victor's success, figuring his will to some degree ensure her own.

Dorothea Melnik (60s-70s): A sweet little old lady with a variety of psychiatry disorders, depending on the self-diagnosis of the month test in Reader's Digest. Among others: sex addiction, kleptomania, manic-depression, depressionÉ she's also Albert's grandmother.

Jingle Jablonski (20s): Victor's free-spirited neighbor; looking for a rubber plant, or true love, or whichever comes first.
