Who We Are & What We Do
The South Suburban College Annuitants Association is a chapter of the State Universities Annuitant Association (SUAA). Our mission is to advocate for a strong and secure public employee pension and health benefit system. Membership is voluntary.
The membership includes:
- Retirees from Illinois public universities, community colleges and other SURS agencies;
- Spouses and survivors of retires;
- Active academic professionals, administrators, faculty, and support staff;
- SURS retirees living out of the state of Illinois.
The SUAA is a 501 (2) (4) organization as defined by the Internal Revenue Service. It is a social welfare group promoting the "common good and general welfare" or "civic betterments and social improvements." Therefore, while SUAA is granted unlimited lobbying, it cannot raise or contribute funds for political activity.
