PARALEGAL INTERNSHIPSTo review a copy of the Spring 2008 Course Outline for the Paralegal Internships (PLA 204 and PLA 206) click hereFuture courses will be structured the same as past courses. The Internships will be taught totally online in WebCT. PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT REQUIRE YOU TO ATTEND THE WEBCT ORIENTATION PRIOR TO TAKING ANY OF MY ONLINE COURSES.IT IS UP TO YOU TO DETERMINE IF YOU NEED THE WEBCT ORIENTATION COURSE IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN ANY OF MY ONLINE COURSES. Please note that my internships fill up very fast and I am limited to 16 interns per semester. Consequently, you should enroll as early as possible. |
INTERNSHIP ENROLLMENT PROCEDURESNOTE: I am off campus until the start of the Fall semester. Therefore, to enroll for the Fall internship, you will have to obtain Dean Ron Kawanna's signature on your SSC Course Registration Form. This is the same form all SSC students use to enroll for their courses.Remember, I am limited to 16 interns per semester. So long as you qualify for PLA 204 or PLA 206, you will need to get a Registration Form from the college, fill it out, and secure Dean Kawanna's signature on your enrollment form. Also, if you know where you are going to serve your internship, send me your site information via e-mail to pdeane@southsuburbancollege.edu. Please note that the Registration Form you need to use is the same form any SSC student would use to register in person for any of the courses offered by the college. These forms are readily available and you do not need to stand in line to get a form. Once you secure Dean Kawanna's signature on your Course Registration Form (authorizing your enrollment into the internship), you will have to go to the college and enroll in person (you cannot enroll for the internships online or over the telephone). NOTE: Do not call me at my private law office. I do not entertain student inquiries through my private office. I check my SSC voice mail all the time and that is the best way to get a hold of me. Again, you cannot enroll online -- you must have Dean Kawanna's signature on the completed Registration Form and you must enroll in person. Remember that enrolling in the course simply gets you into the course. The final site approval is up to the internship instructor and if your site does not qualify, you will not be allowed to continue in the course. If you do not have a site lined up by the time the internship semester starts, you will need to contact me via Pricate Mail in WebCT and I will assist you in finding a site. You should know that most of the sites I will help to place you in are non-paying sites (such as the courthouse or the Legal Assistance Foundation). Finally, although the internship forms are readily available on this web site, do not attempt to deliver them to me until instructed to do so. During the first week of classes, I will instruct you as to how I want you to deliver your course documentation. |
INTERNSHIP SITESI have put together a listing of potential sites for future interns. To view this list click here |
INTERNSHIP FORMSAll of the necessary forms for the internship are provided below in an Adobe format.NOTE: None of these forms will be due until the Internship semester starts and I do not accept the forms prior to the start of the semester. Also, if you are a PLA 206 (second internship) student, you must follow the same course documentation procedures required of the PLA 204 students. Consequently, you will fill out the Internship Application, attach your current transcript, etc. At the start of the semester, I will give you a schedule of due dates indicating when each of the below forms are due. To view/print the forms you must use Adobe Acrobat Reader .
