INTERNSHIP ENROLLMENT PROCEDURESNOTE: IN ORDER TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE NEW COMPUTER SYSTEM GOING ONLINE AT SSC FOR THE FALL 2010 SEMESTER, I HAVE STREAMLINED THE ENROLLMENT PRODEDURE FOR THE PLA INTERNSHIP COURSES (PLA 204 AND 206). THIS IS A MAJOR CHANGE TO THE PLA INTERNSHIP PROCEDURS AND THE DETAILS FOLLOW BELOW.I am off campus until the start of the Fall semester. Therefore, to enroll for the PLA 204 or 206 Internship course, you will have to send an e-mail to Dean Ron Kawanna at RKawanna@ssc.edu You must send a copy of your e-mail to me at PDeane@ssc.edu In your e-mail, you will confirm that you have met the prerequisite course requirements for either PLA 204 or PLA 206. After Dean Kawanna receives your e-mail, he (or his staff) will audit your student records and confirm you are in fact qualified for either PLA 204 or PLA 206. If he determines you are in fact qualified, he will remove the enrollment restriction for you for that course. Upon his doing so, he will send a Reply to your original e-mail indicating that the enrollment restriction for you has been lifted. Dean Kawanna will copy me on his Reply e-mail. HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS: Once you receive the Reply e-mail from Dean Kawanna, YOU CAN ENROLL FOR THE PLA INTERNSHIP COURSES ONLINE! You are no longer required to enroll for the PLA Internship courses in person. I am limited to 16 interns per semester. So long as you qualify for PLA 204 or PLA 206, you will need to follow the Enrollment Procedures identified above and secure Dean Kawanna's removal on the enrollment block applied to your student records. Remember that enrolling in the course simply gets you into the course. The final site approval is up to the internship instructor and if your site does not qualify, you will not be allowed to continue in the course. Also, if you know where you are going to serve your internship, send me your site information via A SEPARATE e-mail to pdeane@ssc.edu. Make sure you put your name and the word INTERNSHIP in the subject line so that I know the e-mail is from you and not some form of spam. NOTE: Do not call me at my private law office. I do not entertain student inquiries through my private office. I check my SSC voice mail all the time and that is the best way to get a hold of me. If you do not have a site lined up by the time the internship semester starts, you will need to contact me via Private Mail in WebCT and I will assist you in finding a site. You should know that most of the sites I will help to place you in are non-paying sites (such as the courthouse or the Legal Assistance Foundation). Finally, although the internship forms are readily available on this web site, do not attempt to deliver them to me until instructed to do so. During the first week of classes, I will instruct you as to how I want you to deliver your course documentation. |
INTERNSHIP SITESI have put together a listing of potential sites for future interns. To view this list click here |
